We are so proud of Pongo von Hugelblick receiving his Sch3 with a V score of 287- 98/93/96 with his handler Pete Kovach, at the MER this weekend. As breeders, proofing our program by competing with our own progeny and seeing the progeny from our breeding program performing so well is incredibly rewarding. By the end of October, our progeny will have received 40 schutzhund titles. We can't thank our team enough, most importantly Pete Kovach, along with Karen, Matt, Roland and Sandro. Most don't realize that Pete has been Pongo's handler since he was only 9 months old, with Pongo being only 3.5 years old, look for more great things from Pete and Pongo in the near future.

Ryan Purswell and his 8 month old puppy, Stella were out walking on the night of September 16th. A man approached asking for Ryan's money and his cell phone. When Ryan did not comply a struggle began between Ryan and the man. Stella immediately grabbed the criminal's shirt collar and had him down in a matter of seconds. Together as a team they rolled the criminal over and while Ryan called 911, Stella performed a bark and hold on the man while they waited for the police. The first to arrive was a K9 officer and his dog. Stella impressed the officer with her courage and obedience that she exhibited at such a young age.
Stella shows the true qualities that we strive to consistently breed here at Hillview Kennels. The clearness to be able to determine when exactly the man was a threat to her owner without any training at 8 months of age is truly remarkable. Stella is from the M litter sired by Atze. Kometa whelped the litter on Christmas day and it was truly a blessing.

May 29th, 2010
On May 29th, Hillview Kennels loaded up and headed to the United Arab Emirates' capital city, Abu Dhabi. We met our team member Sandro Sechi 30 minutes after landing to begin the training trip of a life time. One of our best clients requested that we come to his home to train the Hillview Kennels dogs he has purchased and to help establish the training program for his trainers and dogs. Our host was most gracious and showed his love for the working German Shepherd Dog. The kennels he constructed were immaculate, air conditioned and to be envied.
After getting settled in, we developed our training agenda for the next week. Due to the heat, we planned our training for the evening hours. Let me go ahead and tell you, it was HOT! Daytime temperatures hovered around 105-110 degrees, and it was not a dry heat. The first night, we evaluated each dog, and developed a specific program with goals and objectives for the week, and then for the next 90 days. I must say we were more than happy with each of our dogs and how the progressed throughout the week. Even with the evening temperatures in the low 90's Sandro worked each dog in a full bite suit. Our client attended training each night and was impressed with the progress he could see his dogs making. We were able to develop a program for his handlers to continue the work we began in obedience, developing drives and conditioning of the dogs. We look forward to returning to Abu Dhabi in December to continue the work we have begun, seeing our dear friends there and enjoying the culture of one of the world's most beautiful cities(when it is not so hot).
Hillview Kennels would like to thank Sandro for the incredible amount of work you did in very hot weather and for the progress you made with our dogs, you're the best! To our dear friends in Abu Dhabi , we can never thank you enough for an unforgettable experience, your hospitality and education. Your friendship transcends our business and we look forward to seeing you again soon and hosting you here in the States.

May 21st, 2010
May 1st, 2010 was not just a special day for Hillview Kennels, but it was historic as well. It was the first day of the "one in 500 year" flood that covered much of Nashville and Middle Tennessee. Middle Tennessee Working Dog Association hosted the club trial, judged by Dieter Gerlach from Germany. The thunder and lightning began around 7:30 am and the rain started to pour at 8 am during tracking. The rain never let up but the trial could not be postponed until another day because, the judge was from Germany and his travel arrangements and commitments were already in place for the upcoming weeks. So the trial went on. The trial took place at Hillview Kennels training field in Arrington, TN. The field was beginning to puddle in the morning. By the time Pete and Pongo von Hügelblick and Kimberly Brown and Hank von Hügelblick took to the field to perform their BH's, half of the field was flooded. The rain didn't slow anyone down and the dogs passed! The judge said it was the worst weather he had ever judged a trial or competed in.
Hillview Kennels commitment to proving our breeding and preserving the real working German Shepherd Dog shined through the historic rain storms. We are proud of our progeny and of the men and women who are dedicated and work hard to title their dogs. As of this trial, 17 dogs from our breeding program have received working dog titles.
