Tess joined our family August 2010 shortly after our home was burglarized. We looked at German Shepherds to add another layer of security to our home. We have three children ages 8, 6, and 4. At first I had concerns of how a large dog would fit into our family. I addressed these with Carrie and other Hillview Kennel German Shepherd owners. After conversations with them I felt at ease and up to the task of adding another member to our family. Carrie understood our situation and picked the perfect puppy for us. Tess is a excellent personality match for our family. Tess loves our children as her own. She loves our 2 year old cat and treats him like a litter mate. She has a tremendous sense of what is "normal" at home and is quick to alert me or other family members when she notices something different. While Tess has never shown aggression, she has a natural protectiveness towards everyone in our family. Tess has surpassed all expectations I had for a family dog; so much so that we may add another member to the family in the future!
